Blossom Ireland Winding Down

To all our families, supporters and stakeholders,

Unfortunately, the Blossom Ireland Board of Directors recently took the difficult decision to wind down the operations of Blossom Ireland, effective 31st December 2022, due to ongoing funding issues facing the organisation and no sustainable funding available in the short to medium term.

Since 2010, Blossom Ireland has worked to provide inclusive, accessible programmes to young people with intellectual disabilities across Ireland. With your generosity, we have provided programmes and resources to nearly 600 families during our history with lifechanging accessible education and resources.

Furthermore, we became the first organisation in Ireland to develop a fully-accessible online learning platform for our community. We’re enormously proud of this impact we’ve created together and are confident that our work will be built on by other organisations in the years to come – our peer-reviewed research in this area has been recently published and is available below. We would be delighted to hear from and support other likeminded organisations interested in developing accessible education.

At the moment, our focus is finishing-out our ongoing programmes and providing support to our families. If you require any support, need resources or would like to discuss this further with our Services Team, please feel free to contact them at myblossomchannel@blossomireland.ie.

With regards to funds raised, any funds donated to Blossom Ireland will be used to continue provision of our services and facilitate the wind down process. Per our organisational governing document, any remaining funds after our closure will be donated to a like-minded organisation. If you have any concerns on our funding and governance, please feel free to contact us at info@blossomireland.ie.

We recognise this may come as a shock to many of our network, as it has been to our team. We have provided some resources below, including our research and an easy-to-read announcement on our closure.

We will update our website with further information when we have it. In the meantime, on behalf of our team, volunteers and families, thank you for your support.

All the best,
The Blossom Ireland Team
