Last week in Blossom, we saw our Explore and Gateway groups celebrate the completion of the Assertiveness course in My Blossom Channel! We had so much to celebrate that we decided to have a Zoom party with both groups to look back on some of our great memories shared together, to reflect on some of our favourite parts of being apart of Blossom and to celebrate Nathan’s birthday and him receiving a Gaisce Award!
Our Explore and Gateway members have been with Blossom for years and they have seen first hand how far we have come as an organisation and a support system for each young person as they navigate their way into adulthood! While looking back at some of our favourite memories everyone was sent into giggles and smiles at some of the madness that went on as we grew together. An honourable mention went to our Blossom Christmas party in 2019 where we had Alex dancing the night away and Rory giving us a solo of his favourite song from The Greatest Showman! Both groups loved going out into the community whether it was going to McDonalds, getting the bus, going to the shop together to buy Coke and chocolate, visiting the fire station or taking over some of the local cafés for breakfast!
Throughout the last 3 years of Explore and Gateway, there has never been a dull moment when it comes to getting the Explore and Gateway groups together! From Rory running the facilitators around in circles, Tom playing Ireland’s Call and Only Fools and Horses theme song, Katie bringing a different teddy to every meeting, Alex always causing mischief with the boys, Nathan pranking everyone on a daily basis, Anna being able to see her best friends to Adrienne eating jelly beans for breakfast we have always been given a reason to smile! To look back on these amazing memories and even more, we put together a little video to look back on our time with the Gateway and Explore group that we had to share!
You can help us support even more amazing young people with intellectual disabilities like our Explore and Gateway groups by donating today! Through your donation we will be able to continue developing My Blossom Channel that helps young people with ID gain independence and transition into adulthood!
